Photos from the Orford Bird Sanctuary
Most of the photos on display here have been taken from outside the fence at the Orford Bird Sanctuary and we ask all visitors / photographers to stay outside the fenced area and not to disturb the birds. The high quality, close-up photos have been taken with high magnification, zoom lense cameras.

Dr Eric Woehler, OAM, former Convenor of Birdlife Tasmania, seabird and shorebird expert, regularly monitors the breeding activity at the sanctuary and in doing so is occassionally able to take some photos of eggs, chicks and birds on nest without creating any additional undue stress to the birds. He takes photos of this nature for education and information purposes. His vast experience and knowledge make him one of the few people who can enter the breeding area for monitoring purposes without causing undue distress to the birds.
